The Companions’ Love for the Prophet

Added by on 15/03/2021

His Companions loved him so much that one of them came to him inquiring how they could continue to live after the death of the Prophet.

The Companions’ Love for the Prophet

His Companions loved him so much that one of them came to him inquiring how they could continue to live after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and said to him:

“O Messenger of Allah! You are more beloved to me than myself and children. Sometimes, when I am at home, I remember you and I cannot wait until I come and look at you.

when I contemplate about my death and your death, I know that when you will be in Paradise with the prophets, and I fear that I might not see you when I enter Paradise.”

the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) didn’t answer him until the verse was revealed to him:

“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger – those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.” (An-Nisaa’ 4:69)

and he said to Rabi`ah Al-Aslmi: ”Ask me for something, O Rabi`ah”

Rabi`ah said: I ask your company in Paradise.” He (peace be upon him) said, “Or something else?”

Rabi`ah said: “That is all what I require”, the prophet then said: “Then help me to achieve this for you by devoting yourself often to prostration.”

People then were only asking for what fill their bellies, and cover their skin,

But only a true lover desires nothing but his beloved’s company in this world and the Hereafter

and one year after his death (peace be upon him), Abu Baker (may Allah be pleased with him) got up on the pulpit and said:

“I heard Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) on this day last year…” – then tears ran down his face, then he said a second time,

“I heard the Messenger of Allah on this day last year…”- then he wept

then he said a third time, then he wept bitterly

and said- while one could barely recognize his voice for his crying- he (the Prophet, peace be upon him said:.

`You will not be given anything, after the word of sincerity (i.e., the Shahadah), like well-being, so ask Allah for well-being.”

we ask Allah for well-being

Sa`d ibn Ar-Rabi` was about to breath his last when Zaid found him among the bodies of the dead

then he “Sa`d” said: “Give my salam to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and tell him that I can smell the fragrance of Paradise, and tell my people Al-Ansar, ‘You have no excuse before Allah if the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is harmed while you still breath.”

and another Companion says on the Day of Uhud while the Prophet was fighting: “O Prophet of Allah, don’t raise your head lest you be struck by an arrow. My neck is before your neck, O Messenger of Allah.”

they loved him and therefore obeyed his orders

and some of them were praying `Asr and the Qiblah has been then changed towards the Ka`bah

then a man who prayed with the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by them

and said: “I bear witness that I have prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as he has been commanded to face towards the Ka`bah.”

then they, while they were bowing, turned towards the Ka`bah following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

when the command forbidding Alcohol was revealed, “So will you not desist?” (Al-Ma’idah 5:91)

then Alcoholic drinks were seen flowing through the streets of Medina, and they were like, ‘We did desist. We did desist.’

When the Prophet took off his sandals while he was leading the Companions in prayer, they removed their sandals following him,

then he asked them: “Why did you do this?” they replied: “We saw you remove your sandals, so we removed ours.”

then he told them that Gabriel came to him and informed him that there was filth in them.

While Ibn Rawaha was on his way to the mosque but still outside,

He heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: “O slaves of Allah, be seated”

Abn Rawaha sat down immediately outside the mosque, and he could do nothing but adhere to the instruction of the Prophet (peace be upon him)

after the death of the Prophet (peace be upon him) Abu Baker used, out of his love to the Prophet, to follow what the prophet used to do and do it. To love is to walk in the footsteps of the beloved, not to innovate.

and after the death of Prophet (peace be upon him), Abu Bakr said to `Umar:

“Let us visit Um Ayman (May Allah be pleased with her) as Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to visit her.”

“When we came to her, she wept. They (Abu Bakr and `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) asked her, “What makes you weep?”

“What is with Allah is better for His Messenger (peace be upon him) is better than.”

She said, “I weep not because I don’t know of the fact that what is with Allah is better for the Messenger of Allah, but I weep because the Revelation which was coming from the Heaven has ceased to come.”

and then she (may Allah be pleased with her) burst into tears. This moved both of them to tears and they began to weep along with her.

how couldn’t they love him while he has brought them out of darkness into the light by his lord’s permission. He was their leader, teacher, father, messenger and prophet

None of you will be truly a believer until the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) is more beloved to him than his wealth, his children, family, himself, and all mankind.
