A Message for Everyone Who Endures Affliction

Added by on 19/01/2020

Everyone who endures his affliction with patience for them are glad tidings, and this is a comfort to those who endure affliction with patience.

Everyone who endures his affliction with patience for them are glad tidings

Everyone, and this is a comfort to those who endure affliction with patience that for them are glad tidings

And the best reward in this life and the Hereafter

Good Tidings

That’s why we are commanded to give glad tidings to the patients … we are commanded to give glad tidings

“but give good tidings to the rent,” accordingly when one is afflicted with loss of wealth, the loss of a child, the loss of beloved ones

As Allah said: “And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient” (Al-Baqarah 2:155)

He said: “but give good tidings to the patient” Did He specify what the good tidings would be? Or did he leave it open? Eh? He left it open

And one of the principle of tafsir according to scholars is that when prepositional phrase is omitted  indicates generalization

He literally said “but give good tidings to the patient”, and he didn’t, for example, say ‘of paradise’ or ‘of comfort of this life’

‘of pleasures of this world”, etc.  He didn’t specify what the good tidings would be… just the good tidings in this life and the Hereafter

Thus, everyone who endures his hardship and affliction with patience for them are glad tidings and this is a comfort to him

Therefore,  in Allah’s saying:  “give good tidings to the patient” is a comfort to anyone who is afflicted with a hardship

And there’s a print book named “Tasliyat Al-Musab” by one of the Hanbali scholars

The theme of the book is “give good tidings to the patient”

The theme of the book …that’s why we need to keep this in mind when a calamity befalls someone in order to be patient and get the reward;

The glad tidings, but, subhan Allah, when one is not patient with hardships they lose twice

Two losses; the hardship befallen him and the glad tidings

But, if he is patient they would receive the reward …there would be “glad tidings’ in compensation for them

Reward of Patience

It is the reward, the gift…the highest of rewards; the reward Allah (Exalted be He) prepared for the patients

“but give good tidings to the patient, who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘To Allah We belong, and indeed to Him we will return’” (Al-Baqarah 2:155-156)

“Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the rightly guided.” (Al-Baqarah 2:157)

When `Uman ibn Al-Khattab read the verse he commented: “What righteous things, and what a great heights!”

those righteous things that are precious …we could never get enough of them

He said: “What righteous things, and what a great heights!”
